2023 Arakawa Furusato Bunka-kan Special Exhibition "Yakiyasan in Minami-Senju - Chan-no-Myoyaku Shogakusei-Maru" (The Yakiyasan of Minami-Senju - Chan's Mysterious Medicine)
This exhibition will showcase this valuable cultural asset for the first time and introduce the history of the manufacture and sale of medicines that are rarely known.
During the Edo period, there was an apothecary in Kozukahara-cho, Senju-juku, on the Nikko Road, known for a medicine called "Shodo-Kasei-Maru. Kosodatekisei-Maru was not only manufactured and sold here ・ but was also placed and sold mainly in stores throughout eastern Japan.
The materials left in this apothecary are a nationally rare group of materials registered as tangible cultural properties of Arakawa Ward. This exhibition will showcase these valuable cultural assets for the first time and introduce the history of the manufacture and sale of medicines, which is not usually well known.
